CIC revisits DEAF community

31st May 2019

In March 2013, Christians in Conservation (CIC) Philippines first visited the community of Deaf Evangelistic Alliance Foundation, Inc (DEAF, Inc.), its earthkeeping partner, in Paowin, Cavinti Laguna (118 km south of Manila). After a memorable first visit, CIC has since re-visited DEAF several times – the most recent visit was in May 2019. A few things have changed since 2013.

First, both CIC and DEAF are under new leadership. During this most recent visit on the DEAF site, Board Chair, Pastor Dave Trinidad and other CIC Board members Lydia Robledo and Carmela Española enjoyed a delicious lunch with the current DEAF Director, Pastor Buddy Cuare and his wife, Helen.

Second, the D.E.A.F.-owned access road to the Cavinti Underground River and Caves Complex has been greatly improved. One no longer needs a giant tractor to navigate over the major bumps anymore. What used to take 1.5 hrs now only takes 20 minutes to get there!

One can now enjoy a smoother ride to the entrance of the caves.

Third, the original seedlings planted by CIC and DEAF staff in the DEAF community in 2013 have now blossomed into mature trees.
